Frequently Asked Questions

To ensure the safety of our students and school, the following are additional measures for our school, to protect students and faculty/staff.

To meet the requirements of Workplace, Health and Safety in our school, all visitors must enter the premises by way of the School Office. When arriving at the school, please come to the main office reception area for further direction. Our office staff will direct you to other relevant areas within the building. Please be aware this is a requirement to comply with visitor protocols.

What are the official school hours? 7:15 AM - 2:15 PM

What is the earliest time students may arrive with faculty/staff on duty? Students should not arrive before 7:10 AM; there may be buses and nursery buses that are scheduled to arrive slightly earlier. Those students will be allowed to exit the bus at 7:00 AM. At no time should students be dropped off before 7:10 AM. Supervision will not be provided.

What is the official start time for classes? All classes begin at 7:45 AM.

What time does breakfast end? Breakfast ends at 7:35 AM. However, breakfast will remain open for those arriving to school on late buses.

What time are students considered late? Students arriving at 7:46 AM and after are considered late/tardy.

If a student is late, what is the process? Students should report to the main office with a parent/guardian to sign them in. The student will receive a late pass; then, the student will report to class. Students in Pre-K will be escorted by the Pre-K teacher or Paraprofessional who will report to the main office for parent sign-in and to escort student.

How do visitors ‘check-in/check-out?’ All visitors must report to the main office and log-on to the computer to obtain an official Visitor’s Badge and ‘sign-in’ with the date/time/location/purpose of visit. Upon departure, visitors should ‘sign-out’ on the computer and remove the Visitor’s Badge. Unauthorized Visitors will be requested and required to leave the premises, in the best interest of student safety.


How do parents/guardians gain access to visit child’s class? Parents/guardians may ‘check-in’ to main office upon arrival and must have a scheduled conference or have made an official appointment 24 hours ahead to visit a class. All teachers’ classes actively begin instruction at 7:45 AM. Parents are not allowed to meet with the teacher unscheduled after that time or enter the classroom. However, the first two weeks of school, parents may walk their child down to his/her classroom.

What is the process to schedule a conference with my child’s teacher? The process to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher is to contact the teacher by school phone and leave message, schedule via teacher email, or contact the main office to schedule a conference. The teacher will contact parents/guardian’s regarding your request within 24 hours to schedule an appointment.

How do I gain access to check my child’s grades? Contact the main office or go to the CCPS website to obtain directions on how to get a username and password to the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal Access.

What is the best way to receive school information and maintain contact with my child’s teacher? Every Thursday - the teacher sends important information in your child’s Blue Communication Folder and the teacher may be contacted via email. In addition, the school has a marquee with key date reminders and the school messenger will send out messages. Parents are encouraged to email the teacher at first name.last name @clayton.k12.ga.us to provide their cellular phone numbers to receive text reminders (e.g., Remind 101 and etc.).

Does the school have volunteer opportunities? How may I become actively involved? The school invites volunteers for a variety of events, activities, and school needs. Please contact the main office and the Parent Liaison for upcoming dates and opportunities (Also, review Parent Calendars). Additionally, please consider contacting and joining the PTSA ([email protected]) to actively support the school.

What is the process to volunteer? All volunteers must also have a volunteer release form with a copy of a government issued photo ID on file at the school. If you would like to be a Level 1, 2, or 3 volunteer at Suder ES. Please complete the Volunteer Release Form and return it to the front office with a copy of your government-issued photo ID. If you need help with this step, we can copy your ID in the main office. At the start of a new school year, a form will be placed in the student’s Blue Communication Folder. Additional forms will also be available in the main office.

What is the required dress for visitors? CCPS is a uniform district and our goal is to serve as models and examples for our students. All visitors are requested to be in full attire that does not expose any body parts. Also, the wearing of hats/bonnets/masks, pajamas, slippers, and revealing attire are not allowed when visiting classrooms during instructional time.

How do I let the school know that my child's afterschool transportation is different today? Send a handwritten/typed note with your child in the morning explaining the change (i.e., bus, car, nursery, walkers, etc.). Only handwritten/typed or faxed notes will be accepted - no phone calls or emails. Please call the front office to verify that the note or fax with the transportation changes has been receive by and/or school. If your child is already at school, send a person that is listed on your child's emergency form or IC portal for dismissal.
